16-4A Starts Play Friday Night

The pre-season is over for District 16-4A and all the games will count from here on out.  This Friday Corsicana travels to Lancaster, Mabank plays at Ennis, and Red Oak hosts Terrell.  Corsicana and Ennis both finished the non-district schedule undefeated and state ranked (Ennis #1, Corsicana #6).  Terrell suffered losses to Greenville and Denison but knocked off previously unbeaten Hallsville last week.  Red Oak opened the season with a win over Waco Midway but then dropped three straight games.  The Hawks did get a momentum building win over FW Poly in their final district tuneup though.  Mabank has struggled to some tough 3A teams but did get two wins to build on.  Lancaster has a deceiving 1-4 record.  Their losses were to Desoto (at the time a state ranked 5A), Sherman, unbeaten Denison, and a close loss last week to Waxahachie.

16-4A shapes as a tough district to predict again this year as all six teams could get on a run and make the playoffs.
